Dan Guenther was a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps serving in Southeast Asia, and his Vietnam trilogy is based on his combat experiences. His fourth novel, Glossy Black Cockatoos, draws upon his time in Australia, and was the 2010 Colorado Authors' League Award selection for Genre Fiction. He has a BA in English from Coe College and an MFA from the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop.
